Why Sustainability Matters

As our world becomes more impacted by CO2 emissions, the issue of global warming is making its way to the forefront of world issues.

Let's start with the concept of sustainability. Sustainability involves striking an balance between consumer needs and depletion of natural resources to limit the ecological destruction of mother earth.

Sustainability is practiced in sourcing product materials, packaging materials, shipping and logistics methods, and creation of advertising materials.

So why does Sustainability matter?

Sustainability reverses/reduces some of the ecological impacts us humans have participated in. Sustainability practices are the foundation that bridges the gap between consumer consumption and the preservation of our beautiful planet.

We must also keep in mind that our choices now will impact generations to come...We want mother earth who has sustained us for thousands of years to continue to thrive and to be able to provide generations to come with the beauty that is one with its essense.

Mother earth is meant to be appreciated, admired, and taken care of in the same manner she has always take care of us by providing us with nature, food, weather, animals, the list goes on.

Next time you go shopping be sure to ask yourself does this help or harm mother earth?

How can you do your Part?

-Purchase eco-friendly reusable products

(I.e: clothing made with recycled and organic materials, reusable makeup removing pads, Sustainably made flatware, and shoes made from recyclable materials)

*Amazon is a great resource for some of these types of items. Usually, their products are super affordable.

-Walk or Ride your bike when you can. Carpool when you do need transportation to a destination.

One of the biggest contributors of CO2 emissions include the fossil fuel industry. The best way to do your part to combat this is to minimize your use of fossil fuels when able.

-Reduce Electricity and Water Consumption

A couple of ways to reduce electrical consumption are:
-Turn off lights you are not using
-Unplug Appliances when they are not in use
-Tumble Dry or Air Dry Clothes
-Lower your thermostat when you are not home/traveling
-Take cooler showers when possible

A couple of ways to reduce water consumption are:

-Wash clothes on Cold Water Cycle
-Turn water off when not is use
-Turn the faucet off during your 2 minutes of teeth brushing and turn back on when ready to rinse
-Plant a rainwater garden for catching stormwater runoff

 -Educate yourself

Educate yourself on sustainability, what it means, and what products/materials are considered sustainable. As you learn more about sustainability it will be easier to implement sustainable practices into your lifestyle little by little. No one expects anyone to convert to a sustainable lifestyle overnight...it is a life-long journey that continues to develop with action and time.

Please share how you are making a sustainable impact.
